The Riverland
has a population of 40,000 and includes approximately
300 kilometres of the Murray River. It is a two
hour drive east of Adelaide. Today more than 45
percent of South Australia's grapes crushed for
winemaking and more than 90 percent of the state's
citrus, dried fruit, stone fruit, and nuts are
grown in the Riverland.
Angas Park is situated at Angaston
in the heritage rich Barossa
Valley. With a population of 12,000, it
is approximately 20 kilometres wide and about
30 kilometres long, situated one and a half hour’s
drive north of the city of Adelaide. The market
place has found Angas Park fruit particularly
appealing because of the pollution free environment
in which the fruit is grown and dried. Adelaide’s
pollution levels are the lowest of any mainland
Australian capital, and are therefore amongst
the lowest in the world.
Sunraysia is located
in the Mildura Shire
at the north west of Victoria on the Murray River.
With a population of 55,000, the region is rich
in diverse and delicious produce ranging from
dried fruits, citrus, stone fruits, nuts, vegetables
and wine.
The Riverina region
of New South Wales covers the middle and lower
sector of the Murrumbidgee River Valley. The renowned
areas in the Riverina are Wagga Wagga and Griffith.
It has an estimated population of 162,000 and
extends for 76,000 square kilometres over the
south-eastern Australian region. The prosperous
food sector of the region thrives due to the unique
blend of clean air, water and fertile soils.
